
After the earthquake 1977 Ceausescu ordered to tear off 28 churches and some other about much money - sometimes hundreds meters wide - to move to another place. The reason was, that Ceausescu wanted to see no crosses.
To be able to realize the 'People's Palace' and the belonging boulevard, a 4 km long aisle was beaten into the old part of town.
28.000 households were compulsory-moved approximately into so-called slab-constructions. In those constructions at the outskirts, also the victims of the earthquake in 1977 found a new home here. The model for the boulevards was, as already to the last turn of the century, Paris.

Directly beside the embassy-district at Soseaua Kiseleffs, next to the Piata Victoriei, decide itself the Geology-, the Natural History- and the Farmer Museum.
At the Calea Victoriei, you will find the Atenul Roman, which was builded at 1885-88 according to French standard in the classicist eclecticism financed with donations from the people.
On the way to the Ceausescu's Palace, you will go through the old quarters of Bucharest.
